Community Music

Charities that I currently work as a Community Musician delivering songwriting workshops, vocal coaching and inclusive music sessions…

Maureen is a creative and talented music facilitator. She excels at providing a person-centred approach to her work, building relationships with ease because of her warm and open personality. This has been especially important in her work on two of Beatroute Arts projects, Connect 21 where she worked with young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties, using her skills in music and audio technology to create music through the use of specialist equipment, and on the Allsorts programme, where her songwriting and instrumental skills have allowed adults with learning difficulties to flourish in her workshops.

Daniella Kidd – Assistant Director

I first met Maureen at the International Society of Music Education Conference where we instantly connected musically, professionally and personally. She has very warm, easy going and lovely character and shows a real love and care for everyone she comes in contact with. A very special person who brings all of these qualities to her work as a music practitioner.

In her work with musicALL she specialises in working with children and young people who require additional support for learning. Many of the young people Maureen works with face immense challenges in their daily lives and have significant barriers to learning. There can be many obstacles in the way for the young people to access music making. Maureen instinctively knows how to create a safe and warm environment that breaks down barriers and removes obstacles.

In music sessions she gets alongside and works with the young people. Her natural intuition and musical ability enables connections to form and communication to take place and her unique talent in music delivery creates the space for participants to express themselves and explore new possibilities. The person centred way Maureen works leads to learning and progression happening in the most natural way possible and ensures that everyone is involved and most importantly has fun!
